Libra Season Horoscopes
I love Fall. The cool, crisp air is soothing and gives me an excuse to layer up in all of my favorite scarves and sweaters. I tend to turn inward, start thinking about what I’ll need to take care of before the snow spirits arrive. This year, I’m also starting something new: trying my hand at horoscopes.
I’ve thought about writing them for a while, but they can feel overwhelming. Condensing the movements and intricate connections of the planets into little bite sized pieces is no simple task. But, well, you don’t succed where you don’t try, right?
The Sun enters Libra September 22nd at about 2:22 pm local time
It will remain there until October 22nd at about 11:51 pm local time
Libra Season
The airy abode of Libra is a bit crowed this month - with the Sun joining Mercury and Mars (and, of course, receiving a visit from the Moon). In fact, the New Moon, happening October 6th, sees a conjunction of not only the Sun and Moon, but also Mars - adding a bit of fire and impulse to this meditative lunation.
Mercury will be retrograding here as well, starting September 27th, giving us 3 traditional planets and all of the modern planets in retrograde. Things may feel a bit slow - particularly with Venus a bit stuck in the mud of Scorpio until October 7th. Despite the bad rap, retrogrades are not the worst thing that can happen. At least, they don’t have to be. For most people, the problems and troubles with retrograde planets is pronounced when we try to ignore them or solider on without honoring the change of pace. Retrograde planets ask us to slow down and retrace our steps - they are leading by example quite literally!
Generally speaking, this Libra season feels like slowing down to take a turn - for a few weeks everything seems to be at a stand still, until Saturn begins to push things forward with a direct station on October 11th. Saturn will be followed by Pluto, then Jupiter and Mercury in stationing direct in the next week - expect communication to start flowing more easily from here. Not that planets turning direct suddenly solves everything, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.
Rounding out this Libra season, of course, is our Aries Full moon on October 20th. Allow this lunation to push you to find the spark of compassionate resistance that will keep you fueled as the chill sets in this season. Put your uncertainties to work harvesting clarity while the days are still warm.
While the Sun is in Libra, be prepared to revisit plans and change directions
Now, allow me to be clear - these are mostly traditional horoscopes. That is, what I’m saying is based on the transits and happenings while the Sun is in Libra. However, the reflection bits offered below are more intuitive and based in my theurgy practice. I am writing with rising signs in mind, but you can read for your sun sign if you prefer.
In Grand Forks, Sagittarius is on the horizon when the Sun enters Libra, so lets start there.
Sagittarius
As the Sun parties its way though your 11th house, making a trine to Jupiter, turn your mind to community. What does community look like for you? Is it centered in people, places, or something else? It’s very likely that Jupiter’s retrograde into Aquarius has brought up some questions for you about what exactly you value and hold close - now is a great time to ponder how to put those values into practice.
Capricorn
The Sun in Libra is in great communication with Saturn in Aquarius this month and together they ask you: how is your work feeding you? Your calling and your career may not be one-in-the-same, and this month is going to really put that into focus. Is your job providing you more than just financial resources? Does it bring you pride, or joy? And, if it doesn’t: is that sustainable? Take this month to really reflect on your direction and, if change is required, perhaps wait until later in October when the planets have started moving direct.
Aquarius
Saturn and Jupiter have been moving backwards though your 1st house for a while now, prompting a re-calibration of your sense of self. The Sun, now illuminating your 9th house of spirituality, will task you with finishing this period of self-discovery by integrating your highest truths and beliefs into your everyday life. What does your day look like if you are living by your faith and ideals? What is holding you back from that reality?
Pisces
It is likely that this month will bring up some difficult topics, with most of these transits happening in your 8th and 12th houses. Traditionally two of the most difficult houses, they still hold great potential for us for growth and transformation. What is something that you’ve been dreading - something that makes your stomach drop or heart ache? What is something, even if it’s small, that you can do to face it? If you are up the the task, confront your shadows and fears with the brilliant rays of the Sun lighting your path.
Aries
Mars and the Sun serve as spotlights this month, drawing your attention to relationships and your connections with others. Have you been truly listening to those around you? Or have you only been waiting to respond and react? Communication is a two way street, after all. Observe your interactions one-on-one and in community - are you being consistent, or adjusting to fit the room?
Taurus
This retrograde period offers you an opportunity to assess your literal workspace - is it working for you? Does it function while still being beautiful and comfortable? Venus starts the month in your 7th house of partnerships and asks: are you balancing your relationships and responsibilities? Or, are you perhaps sacrificing one for the other, or using one as a distraction? Take some time to take stock of where and how you are spending your energy.
Gemini
When was the last time you let your art (what every that may be) talk to your spirit? This period of reflection urges you to go back and consider creative projects that you may have set aside before. Once Mercury turns direct in mid-October, allow this lovely air trine to fuel your imagination. How do you create and express yourself beyond just words? When was the last time you let yourself get lost in music or movement?
Cancer
The Sun spends this month illuminating your 4th house of home and family - where do you need to create new routines for stability and balance? Are you being supported, or have you been carrying the load alone? The new Moon in October will really pull your attention in this direction. The full Moon in Aries, later in the month, will ask you to contrast the home life you’ve cultivated with the version of you that the world sees. Are you able and safe to be authentic in both of those space?
Leo
Your 3rd house of locality is the focus this month as the Sun treks through Libra. Take this retro period to reflect on your relations to the places and spaces around you. Where do you go for solitude? Where do you go with your friends? Where do you go for community and celebration? When was the last time you visited this places? Think also about ways to combine your community time with your one-on-one time with close friends.
Virgo
With Mercury lingering in your 2nd house, your attention will no doubt be pulled to matters of money, resources, and support. This retrograde period, allow yourself to be cautious before making any big decisions. Mercury asks you: what resources do you have that you are not utilizing? What have you taking for granted or just tackling on auto-pilot? Take inventory and get creative with what you have. Put it to good work before you worry to much about adding more.
Libra
The transits in your 1st and 5th houses may pull to towards reinventing yourself and reinvesting time and energy in your creations or hobbies. When was the last time you got creative just for the fun of it? Or tried a new form of expression without any expectation of excellence? Venus moving though the 2nd and 3rd houses brings illumination to your local resources. Where have you been allowing beauty and harmony to flourish around you, and how can you spread that out?
Scorpio
The Sun transiting your 12th house of secrets and uncertainties will ask you to face some difficult truths and Mars alongside will push you to action. How has your family or linage shaped how you approach secrets? Not just your own secrets, but think about when others open up to you. Has your silence helped you, or isolated you away from support? Are there things you’ve been holding that are ready to be brought to light? There are no wrong answers here by the way - just reflection.
